Brussels, 21 November 2022: Wallapop, a Spanish leading online platform for selling and buying reused goods becomes the latest member to join Classifieds Marketplaces Europe (CME).
Founded in Barcelona in 2013, and now operating in Spain, Italy and Portugal, Wallapop aims to encourage a more human and sustainable consumption model by building a community that facilitates contact between buyers and sellers of reused products. The platform attracts over 15 million users monthly, who collectively create more than 100 million listings annually.
Joaquín Ruiz, CFO of Wallapop, said: “We are delighted to join CME and continue promoting a conscious and sustainable form of consumption alongside key actors in Europe. Through this initiative, we can ensure our purpose reaches out to more communities and increase the awareness of the benefits circular economy business models provide to society”.
Carolin Wehrhahn, chair of CME and director of EU public affairs at Adevinta, says: “We are pleased to welcome Wallapop to CME to support our coalition’s mission to provide policymakers with the perspective of the classifieds sector, including its contribution to circular consumption and economic growth in local communities in Europe. Their interest in joining the CME demonstrates the growing importance of the coalition, speaking with one voice towards a common goal.”
